An Monacóideach — from the surname Monacóid (< Anglo-Norman Munkot; cf. ‘Philip Munkot’ from Tipperary in Calendar of Ormond Deeds 3.15).
The word cloch here refers to a stone castle (see 1654 ‘the castle of Cloghnycody’, Civil Survey), no trace of which remains.
