Explanatory note
- Gaeilge
pasture of (the) ?blind plain
Ní léir brí caoch anseo. B'fhéidir gurb amhlaidh gur cíoch atá sa chéad eilimint den cháilitheoir: cf. 1100c 'Coemnat Cula Cichmaig[e]' v.l. 'Cluana Cichmaighi' in FSÁG 6 s.n. Cúil Chíochmhaighe.
- English
pasture of (the) ?blind plain
The meaning of caoch (usually ‘(pur)blind’) is unclear here. Perhaps the first element of the compound is cíoch “breast”: cf. 1100c 'Coemnat Cula Cichmaig[e]' v.l. 'Cluana Cichmaighi' in FSÁG 6 s.n. Cúil Chíochmhaighe.
