Gaelú ar Beaubec na Sean-Fhraincise
Is logainm iasachta é seo (< Beaubec na Sean-Fhraincise) a cuireadh in oiriúint don nGaeilge (ar nós BF Síopús < Sheephouse, BF Múrtún < Mooretown, srl.). Bhronn Walter de Lacy, Tiarna na Mí, talamh i bparóiste Cholpa ar mhainistir Beaubec agus tugadh ainm na mainistreach sin ar an áit abhus. Bhí an t-aonad talún ina dhá chuid faoin 16ú haois: ‘the two Bebeks’ (1540), ‘Great Bebecke alias Bewbecke’, ‘Little Bebecke’ i Fiant (1558); faoi lár an 17ú haois faightear ‘Baymore’, ‘Baybeg’ (1654), a thaispeánann gur tuigeadh gurbh é beag na Gaeilge a bhí san eilimint -beck. Tá an logainm seo pléite in aiste le K.W. Nicholls (‘The Protean Placename’ in Cín Chille Chúile, 2004)
