"Pinkman Cluain-Mhuirisce = Morris or Maurice’s meadow land. Under the year 3653 A.M. the Four Masters mention the battle of Cluain-Muirsce in Breifney. This is the only Cloonmorris in Breifney now known. The townland is in the south of Bornacoola Parish, and borders Co. Longford."

*“There is one possible reference to Cloonmorris in the Annals – ‘the battle of Cluain-Muirsge in Breifne,’ AFM I, p.42. Cloonmorris is not strictly in Breifne, but that word was often used loosely by the Annalists to include Magh Réin because of the overlordship of Ó Ruairc in later times. That our Cloonmorris may be indicated is supported by the reference immediately before to a battle at Cluain-Chuas in Teathbha, the present Cloncoose near the town of Longford” (McNamee: Ardagh, 568).
