"Pinkman: Cor-naomh = Hill of the saints. This is O’Donovan’s rendering and, apparently, on some local authority. If this be correct, it implies that the place was at one time church property, or had some connection with St. Manchan’s Monastery in Mohill – the townland lies beside Mohill town. I am not so sure that this is correct, and I feel inclined to suggest that the name represents Cor-Neidhe – Neidhe’s round hill. There is a large fort on the top of this hill in a remarkably good state of preservation. It would appear to have been a place of some note. Possibly the owner may have given his name to the place. The name Neidhe occurs in the Mac Rannall pedigree."
