Pinkman: "Druim-Fhada = Long ridge or hill. Druim, drom, like the Latin dorsum, means a back. In place-names it is applied to a long low ridge or hill. It is one of the commonest of root words in Irish names; it begins about 2400 and enters into a vast number of others. Leitrim has been called the county of little hills and we may expect to find this word figuring often in its place-names. I think it does occur often[sic] than any other. Druim is now used as a masculine noun, and the aspiration in this name, as in a number of others, may be due to local usage, or it may be a remnant of the old neuter eclipsis, or what was equivalent to an eclipsis. The name is spelled, Dromod, Drumod, Drumad. There is Dromod village and townland in the parish of Annaduff. This townland has two parts, Druim-Fhada-mór… and Druim-Fhada-Beag."
