"Pinkman: Eanach-Mhic-Choilín = Mac Cullen’s or Collin’s marsh. This townland lies ½ mile to the east of Cloone Village. Though O’Donovan fixes the spelling Annaghmacullen, that is not the way the word is pronounced locally. The local people say Annaghmacooleen, and they would hardly understand you, if you said Annaghmacullen. Consequently I think the Irish form should be Eanach-Mhic-Choilín, and not Eanach-Mhic-Chuilinn. Coilín seems a variant of Coileán and it is said that the anglicized forms of Mac-Coilín cannot always be distinguished from those of Mac Uidhilín. (See Annals of the Four Masters, AD 1530)."
