"Pinkman: Ciabhaigh = A bushy place. Ciabhaigh is an oblique case from ciabhach which means hairy or bushy. An old local derivation traces the name from ciabh, a lock of hair. The term was often applied to places that grew long sedgy grass or thick undergrowth. “In an Inquisition taken at Jamestown 1st June 1635, there is a copy of a Will of Shane Oge O’Rourke de Clonecorrick, in which testator disposes of Drumbrenlis, 1 Cartron, spideoige ½ cartron, coive ½ carton.
