"Pinkman: Currach-Eochaire = Eachair’s marsh. So Dr. O’Donovan. And he seems to have based both the spelling of the English name and the form of the Irish on local information. The name locally, nowadays anyhow, is Curraghfoora. I have often heard it pronounced, and always with the distinct ‘f’ sound. Of course this may be a corruption. But I doubt very much if it is. Consequently I suggest that the Irish form may be Curracha-fuara, cold or damp moors or marshes. "
