"Pinkman: Goba-Drúise = Point of the adultery. As the names stands, I do not know of any other meaning it can have. But I find that on the Ordnance Survey Name Sheets there were six different spellings of the word before O’Donovan settled on Gubadruish. No doubt these may have been ways of escape from an unpleasant situation. But, anyhow, three of those ways were Gobaderrish, Gobadorish, Gobadoris, which point to Gob-a’-Doruis. When then, O Donovan adopted the for Gobadruish he must have been guided by some local information."
