"Pinkman: Muileann-Uí-Dhuibh = O’Duff’s mill. This name was anciently written Muillendubh and the local interpretation, as far as I can gather, was mostly in favour of writing the first part of the name Muileann, a mill and not mullán, a hill. Yet there were some who made it Mullán-Uí-Dhuibh. O’Donovan is, of course, accountable for the English spelling and he must have been persuaged that the last part represented a man’s name. The situation of the place might suggest another interpretation. Perhaps the true Irish form is Muileann-Duibhe or Mullán-Duibhe? "
