"Pinkman: Coraidh-Eolais = Weir of Eolas or Eolus. This place was so called from Eolus, who was the ancestor of the Muintir Eolus. These were the ancient proprietors of the whole district. The Mac Rannals and their correlatives, who were seated in the southern portion of the County Leitrim, were their descendants. "
