Tagann an eilimint bark i gceist i logainmneacha Sasana ‘generally referring to its use in tanning’ (Vocabulary of English Placenames s.v.); cf. ‘Oak-bark was the regular source of tanning for the preparation of hides’ (English Field Names s.v. Bark Mill).
