Tá -n deiridh le fáil i bhformhór na bhfoirmeacha stairiúla agus cuireann siad Ceapach an Iarainn “the tillage-plot of the iron” in iúl. Tá Smithy SO díreach laisteas den bhaile fearainn seo i dtuaisceart bf An tOireadh (#28476). Bhí oibreacha iarainn ar an taobh eile den pharóiste, lasmuigh de Mhóinteach Mílic.
Déanann Tadhg Óg Ó Duinn tagairt don tionscnamh seo in ‘Settlement by Teig O Doyne in favour of his sons’ (1593), i gcló in LS Uí Dhuinn:
...the Castells, edifices, rents, reversions, moores, medowes, parkes, pastures, stones, quarries, Iron mynes, woods, underwoods, milles, rivers, waters, locks, bogges, mountaines, comodities, jurisdictions, liberties and customes, which I have enyoide or held or belonge the name of O Doine and Cheiftaine of the said Oregaine.
