Explanatory note
- Gaeilge
the little church
Is deacair leaganacha béarlaithe de cillín agus coillín a idirdhealú, agus uaireanta ní mór dul i muinín leis an bhfianaise seandálaíochta. Tá tuairisc san Fhardal Seandálaíochta ar an reiligín (‘Burying Meadow’) agus ar umar an tseanteampaill a luann Ó Corragáin in History and Antiquities of the Diocese of Ossory II 151.
Is dócha go bhfuil dul amú ar an gCorragánach nuair a deir gur ‘Killeenbogg (Cillín bog)’ an seanainm a bhí air seo, áfach (loc. cit.); is é ‘-begg’ < beag “small” an litriú atá in Book of Survey and Distribution agus Acts of Settlement and Explanation araon.

Killeen townland ... formerly called Killeenbogg (Cillín bog)?
'The old church in the townland of Killeen has disappeared ... Its site ... in the "Burying Meadow". In the graveyard there are many small, rude head-stones, marking the graves of unbaptized children ... Killeen townland being somewhat wet and spongy was formerly called Killeenbogg (Cillín bog)'(?)
