Explanatory note
- English
The name "Mount Anville" is more correctly spelled "Mountainville" and is based on a misunderstanding of the origin of this townland name. There is a reference from 1570 to "Mountainstowne otherwise Mollanstown" (BSD) and "Mountainstowne" appears to have later become "Mountainville" and by 1821 it was marked on Duncan's map as "Mt. Anneville."
