Waterhouse (Buttevant) is now a ruin, and has not been inhabited for some 12 or 14 years a footbridge across the Awbeg, connecting Waterhouse with Springfield [556], remained in existence up to the year 1870, though in a rather dilapidated condition Waterhouse townland being bounded on two sides (West and South) by the Awbeg, arises from the fact of its being situated in a bend of the river. The House no doubt knew better days, but is quite uninhabitable now.
