This ***lough is called after St. Edaoin, Edwina or Eidin ... ***Lough Eidin to be adopted to agree with st. Eidin’s grave already engraved’.
‘186B This lough is called after St. Edaoin, Edwina or Eidin, the patron saint of the parish of Tumna. Her festival was formerly kept at the church of Tuaim Mna on the 5th of July. There can therefore exist no doubt as to the name and I would recommend Lough Eidin to be adopted to agree with st. Eidin’s grave already engraved’. OD.

The lough is called "Boyle Water" on the original plan
185 ‘There is a small island in d [tagairt léarscáile] called Inchastira, on your plan Innistira, but no notice has been taken of it in your name book or of any name but those of townlands.
‘Have the goodness to inform me if the name Lough Eidin, penned on the inclosed is correct and should it be engraved. You will percieve “St. Eidin’s Grave” near the edge of the lough in Tumna townland. The lough is called “Boyle Water” on the original plan and there is no mention of the name Lough Eidin in the name book, nor in any of the orthography documents.’
‘St. Eidin is the name engraved, which is correct’. [OD ag tagairt do ‘You will percieve “St. Eidin’s Grave”...]
